Arts & Craft
Redrow continues to encourage the artistic and creative flair of budding and established artists in the communities in which we build.
Welcoming an individual but practical approach to interior art, many of our beautifully designed show homes feature inspiration and wall hangings from local talent. This includes young amateurs as well as professional artists and photographers.
For example, nine-year-old Katie Simkins provided sole inspiration for one important room of our Rickford show home at Mill Hill, in Bingham. Her dream ‘little girl’s’ bedroom is now being shared with all our visitors, after she sent her designs to Redrow and we commissioned our interior designers to bring them to life.
In Swansea, five youngsters from the Joshua Foundation collectively contributed to the rousing design of our show home at Awel-Y-Mor. The winning child’s design was used to style a bedroom and the four runners-up have seen their work transformed into canvases, which are displayed in the property.
And budding young artists in Doncaster entered a Halloween-themed drawing competition at Danum St Giles, with the artistic champion winning gift vouchers for a local toy store.
In sport, Redrow has continued to support a number of important events, as well as sponsoring a variety of local and national teams, including Penallta Rugby Club and the Celtic Crusaders national rugby league squad, in Wales.
For the fifth consecutive year we will be sponsoring the Suffolk Youth Games. The event is the largest community multi-sport festival in the county and has become a focal point in Suffolk’s sporting calendar. Redrow’s continued involvement gives an opportunity to over 1,000 children to take part in high quality coaching opportunities in a variety of sports within their local communities.
In Falkirk, pupils from Larbert High School received financial support from Redrow for a charity walk which, to date, has raised £17,000 for the school.
In 2008, we’ve also continued to give our backing to the annual Eastbourne Achievers awards, which reward the community’s unsung heroes for sporting achievement, civic service, overcoming disability or generally being ‘good neighbours’.
And many of our own staff have taken part in a variety of events, including the London Marathon, Great North Run and Cancer Research Race for Life series to raise much-needed funds for good causes.
