Ethical Sourcing
- Where possible, Redrow specifies products and materials that generate the least environmental impact, including timber from managed plantations, aggregates from the closest quarries and non-toxic paints.
- Redrow is a member of WWF-UK Forest and Trade Network and our Purchasing Policy of Sustainable Timber Products encompasses and promotes processes and working practices, which support the use of timber only from well-managed and sustainable sources.
As part of our commitment to this partnership, we have identified eight SMART auditable targets and actions for 2005-2006 which will:
- Reduce amount of timber from Unknown and Unwanted sources from 3.5% to 3%.
- Increase the amount of Known material from 10.8% to 15%
- Increase the amount of Legal material from 31.9% to 36%
- Increase the amount of Credit Certified material from 30.2% to 34%
- Increase the amount of Progressing material from 21.4% to 26%
- Maintain existing levels of Recycled material.
- Redrow seeks to deal with suppliers and subcontractors able to demonstrate their commitment to the environment through their own codes of practice.
- Our internal procedures require an ethical relationship with suppliers and subcontractors, by forbidding the exchange of payments or substantial favours between two parties.
