Protecting our Heritage

Over many years, Redrow has taken pride in the meticulous refurbishment of heritage buildings, restoring them to their former glory, whilst incorporating new homes into the design of the overall development.

We recognise the tremendous potential presented by refurbishment projects and whenever possible we seize opportunities to rejuvenate jaded or derelict properties to create high quality homes, taking great care to preserve and restore original features to create modern buildings which retain great character.

The re-development at Knightstone Island at Weston-Super-Mare exemplifies such a project. Working in partnership with North Somerset District Council who secured grant monies to deliver this major project, we are providing 87 new apartments, whilst retaining the character of the Grade 2 listed pavilion, theatre, bath house and swimming pool. The scheme, which was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, has involved re-opening the perimeter walkway, Coronation Parade, opening up the area as an amenity for the community once again. Other improvements to this important site include construction of a new restaurant. The project was rewarded with a “Highly Commended” in the Best Conversion Project of the Daily Telegraph Your New Home Awards, 2008.
