Redrow in action - Assistant Site Manager Development Programme
It was identified that Redrow has a need to develop professional and competent site managers for the future. To do this we need to train and develop the skills and knowledge of our current assistant site managers.
A training programme has been designed to enable our assistant site managers
to demonstrate the competence they are gaining from their role on-site and to
provide an element of formal training to support their learning experiences.
The aim is to focus on all aspects of the build operation starting with lower
risk areas and working through to high risk groundworks as the programme completes.
The nine month programme culminates in the achievement of NVQ level 3 site Supervision, and recognition in achieving the Redrow site management certificate. Therefore, providing the opportunity for the assistant site manager to apply for a site manager position when one becomes available.
By providing a training and development programme:
- The competency of our construction staff will be raised above the industry average.
- Performance standards will be reached enabling promotion to site manager level.
- A recognised qualification will be achieved along side the Redrow certificate in site management.
- Existing skills and knowledge will be validated and built upon.
- Loyalty towards Redrow will be built, therefore increasing employee retention, and job satisfaction.
Upon successful completion our assistant site managers will have gained a working knowledge of all build operations through on-site experience and will have developed the management skills to run a site in compliance with Redrow policies and procedures.
