The Redrow School’s Partnership Programme
One of the many and varied partnerships involved the Back to Backs in Birmingham City Centre. This living museum was used as the back drop for Greet Primary School, Sparkbrook and Hollywood Primary School, Hollywood.
Back to Backs is a period restoration of a square of back to back houses that illustrates changes in ordinary people’s homes in the 19th and 20th centuries. The children looked at life in Victorian times and Victorian architecture, producing a variety of artwork, taking part in traditional games, household chores and dressing in period costume to bring the spirit of Victorian Birmingham to life, whilst learning how children lived over 100 years ago.
